Lakshya Sen : In the just finished Commonwealth Games 2022 badminton competitions in Birmingham, shuttler Lakshya Sen won his first Men’s Singles title. He was incredible because he defeated Malaysia’s Tze Yong Ng in the championship game with a spectacular comeback after falling behind in the first game.
With his remarkable achievement, he joined Prakash Padukone, Syed Modi, and Parupalli Kashyap as the fourth Indians to win the men’s singles gold medal at the Commonwealth Games.
Sen recently posted a picture of his coaches hugging each other on Twitter. He shared a picture of them and said they were his “universe” and deserved every gold medal.
Sen, a bronze medalist and world champion, appeared to be in trouble after dropping the opening match. After winning the last four points in a close race, it looked hard for the Malaysian star to finish on the podium.
The contest, however, changed when he gained the lead early in the second set. As he moved the Malaysian player and assumed control of the game, he won 11 straight points.
“The second game of the match, when I seized the lead, was the turning point.” I was playing skillfully and with a little more patience. “That greatly boosted my confidence for the duration of the third game,” said Sen.
He gained a three-point lead in the third game after playing a little more aggressively.
“The shuttle underwent a significant alteration. I believe I maintained a respectable distance from where I started from the other end of the court, and in the second game I was in charge. Then, in the third, I gained a three-point lead, which proved to be sufficient. After the match, Sen said, “I’m extremely pleased that I played a good second game and third game.
Sen was clearly overjoyed after winning his first singles gold medal. “I am happy with the way I played today,” he added, adding that it was a dream come true. He deserves praise as well, because he had a great first game.
